The 2018 Pickaway County Fair, which will be held June 16th thru June 23rd, is definitely going to be full of great entertainment and events! For an admission price of $6, you can enjoy animal exhibits, entertainment, amusement rides and a great variety of food. This year is special because it will be the last fair to take place in the buildings that are currently at the fairgrounds. Following this year’s fair, the fairgrounds will be undergoing a major renovation, which includes replacing most of the current buildings.
During the course of the fair, hundreds of 4-H and FFA members will be exhibiting their animals and a variety of other projects. The kids of Pickaway County work very hard on these projects and exhibitions, and it really shows! Fair-goers can come to support these young men and women and enjoy these exhibitions held in the show arena and the Grange Building daily. There are also club and organizational booths in the Coliseum that showcases the members’ activities and involvement throughout the year.
Fair festivities kick off with some fun events at the Grandstands. Harness racing runs June 16th thru June 18th and admission is free with paid fair admission. The Demolition Derby takes place June 16th, with a $5 admission. KOI Dirt Drag will be held June 17th, and Motorcross will be held on June 19th, both with free admission with paid fair admission.
Official fair events start on Sunday, June 17th, with the crowning of the Junior Fair King and Queen at 4 p.m. at the Grange Building. The official opening ceremonies will then take place on Monday, June 18th, at 5 p.m. at the Midway Stage.
Something new at this year’s fair is Dino-ROAR. Dino-ROAR is a dinosaur show that is put on with animatronic dinosaurs and includes fun facts about the different species of dinosaurs. There will also be fossil displays. The show will be performing hour shows around the fairgrounds June 19th thru June 21st. The shows are free with paid admission to the fair.
On Saturday, June 23rd, the fair will close with the performance of an up and coming Nashville group. Travis Brown and the Drifters will be opening for 2 Steel Girls. 2 Steel Girls are southern Ohio natives who appeared on NBC’s “The Voice”. The gates will open at 5:00 pm and admission for this event is $10.
