The Pickaway County Commissioners, by resolution, declared June “Brain & Alzheimer’s Awareness Month” in the county. The resolution coincides with The Longest Day initiative promoted by the Alzheimer’s Association. Each year, on June 21, the summer solstice, the Alzheimer’s Association invites people to participate in any activity they love (or an activity loved by those affected) to help end Alzheimer’s. The project attempts to raise funds and awareness for care and support while advancing research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
