Who doesn’t love a scoop of ice cream on a hot day? At many festivals throughout Central Ohio, Carl and Grace Rader, owners and founders of Rader’s Old Fashioned Homemade Ice Cream can help you out with a scoop of your favorite flavor!
Founded in 2004, Carl and Grace stepped out into the traveling food business with their homemade ice cream, just selling vanilla at the time. They now have over 15 different flavors and showcase 6 to 8 flavors at each festival and make the ice cream in a John Deere hit-and-miss engine from the 1940s. Their most popular flavor is Carl’s original vanilla recipe. Carl said last year they made 300 four gallon tubs of ice cream!
You can find Rader’s Old Fashioned Homemade Ice Cream traveling around Ohio from April through October totaling nearly 40 festivals and events; that is a LOT of ice cream! During the off season they make ice cream for schools and special events/parties so Carl and Grace definitely stay busy! The Rader’s are also avid supporters of 4H at many of the county fairs they visit.
Rader’s are expected to setup shop at the Ashville Viking Festival, Deercreek Dam Days, Commercial Point Homecoming Festival, and the Circleville Pumpkin Show.
So if you are at a festival and see Rader’s Old Fashioned Homemade Ice Cream, be sure to stop by for a cone, shake, or float and say “Hello” to Carl and Grace!
